We always holiday in the UK, staying in self-catering accommodation. We have discovered some wonderful places over the years and, on occasion, we have got it slightly wrong! Unfortunately, there are very few ways of finding good, detailed and entirely independent feedback about your potential holiday destination, unless you are lucky enough to have it recommended to you by a previous guest. In our view, these are the ONLY people who can tell you what it's really like. They haven't simply 'ticked the boxes' - they've slept in the beds and used the oven; they know whether the garden is dog-proof, the surroundings are quiet and the locals are friendly! So, we decided that it was about time those who go to such lengths to ensure we have a good holiday are given the credit they deserve, and those who would like to recommend them are given the opportunity to do so. Over many months we have been collecting reviews and storing them on our database. |
|
| Our site became searchable on 5th October, thanks to a number of cottage owners who were kind enough to advertise our site to previous guests, giving them the opportunity to write a review. There is often more than one review of each cottage, which we hope gives you a really good feel for the place if you are considering staying there. PLEASE submit your own review while you are here, or at least recommend a Real Gem - the more information we have on the site, the more useful it will become. |

Big Thanks firstly to all our reviewers and cottage owners, who already feel like ‘old friends’. We love reading your reviews in the office and the list of places we want to visit on our own holidays is growing all the time! |

Secondly for the photographs on the site which are of reviewed properties, namely Carswell Farm Holiday Cottages in Devon, Monkstone Cottage in Devon and Wern Fawr Manor Farm in Gwynedd. Many thanks to Zoë & Katherine, Jeanette & Roger and Alan & Helen for their kind support.
The scenic photographs were most kindly supplied by Howard from the Beautiful Britain website. If you enjoy views of our fantastic countryside, do visit http://www.beautifulbritain.co.uk/and see many more of Howard’s superb photos. Finally, a special mention to Rahul who has worked on the website without complaint despite many changes! |
