Can anyone recommend a good treatment/cure for car sickness which is suffered by both my 10 yr old daughter and also our dog!  Pauline - Avebury
  • Try giving your daughter ginger pastilles if she feels nauseaus.  RB - Thame
  • We used the travel bands worn around the wrists for our son and they worked really well  ST - Manchester
  • Our dog stopped being sick when we travelled him in a crate with sheet over it so he couldn't see out. DW - Cardiff
  • Don't ask me why this works, but some people swear by sitting your dog on newspaper - it's cheap to try even if it doesn't work!  Failing that, your vet should be able to prescribe some travel pills if you dog is really bad.  PM - Chorley
Is there ANYWHERE nice to stop on the A303 when you've got a dog and kids?
Trevor - Chichester
  • We tend to stop at Stonehenge - without actually going to see the stones!  You can park for free and there are public footpaths across the fields behind the car park (away from the stones).  There are loos, you can fill water bowls and there is a shop/cafe.  The only drawback is that you have to join the traffic going east up to the next roundabout to continue your journey west!   JH - Bristol.
  • There is the Cartgate Picnic Area near Stoke Sub Hampdon (TA14 6RA).  Toilets and shop but don't be fooled by the brown signs indicating a picnic area - there are a few wooden tables on a bit of grass right by the road - not the most enchanting of places but OK if you need a stop  EM - Cardiff
  • Sparkford (Yeovil)  A303/A359 The villagers do breakfasts for passing traffic in the village hall and use the proceeds for village projects. It is done every Saturday morning during the school holidays. It was a lovely breakfast with a few choices including cereal. Much nicer than any services!" NE - Colchester (Aug '08)
More suggestions PLEASE - we suffer with this dilemma too every time we go to the West Country - Janet!
We are visiting Gloucestershire in the fall for just 3 days - what 'must see' places should we add to our itinerary?
Nancy - USA
  • I would recommend you centre your exercusions around The Cotswolds.  I would certainly recommend Stow on the Wold, Moreton on Marsh and Cirencester if shopping is high on your list!  DW - Watford
  • Be sure to visit The Slaughters - two quintessentially English villages - you can walk from one to the other via a footpath across fields - takes about 20 mins.  There is a nice shop converted from the Old Mill and plenty of photo opportunities. Don't forget that almost ALL the villages in the Cotswolds are very English in character (the village green, pond, church and of course pub feature in most) - just turn off any main road and follow the names of the places you fancy and see what you find! HM - Darlington
